Eco Lips has always been one step ahead of the game when it comes to product and package innovation, and we are proud to announce the launch of Plant Pod®, our plastic-free, plant-based lip balm tube. Thanks to this groundbreaking technology, Eco Lips lip balms are now made from 100% plant material.
Environmentally friendly and sustainable, our new plant-based tubes are crafted of material re-claimed from farm byproducts which otherwise would have been burned. The tubes look, feel and function just like a traditional plastic lip balm tube. They contain zero plastic elements, heavy metals, or polymers, including BPA and phthalates.
Plant Pod® aligns with Eco Lips’ continued push for sustainable solutions – and we didn’t stop there. Our labels are also plastic-free. With the absence of plastic and fossil fuel-based ingredients, we are effectively reducing our carbon footprint and decreasing the production and disposal of plastic. The decision not only aligns with our values as a company but satisfies the ever-growing demand for environmentally conscious products.
Eco Lips Plant Pod® is the first plant-based, plastic-free lip balm tube that fully functions like a regular tube. Plant Pod® celebrates the power of plants and our ability to choose simple, everyday products that are better for our health and the health of the environment.
The plant tube is made from farm harvest waste that otherwise would have been burned making it environmentally friendly and sustainable.
The repurposed plant material left over from farm production is converted to cellulous material at the local factory and injection molded to make the lip balm tubes. The second life for the plant material elevates the farmland’s economic status by creating a second stream of income for the local farmers.
The manufacturing plant is powered by solar energy.
The tube is currently being tested for biodegradability. Initial testing is looking optimistic.
Recycling facilities are not accepting this package currently.
The shelf life of our lip balms is 2 years. You will not experience tube degradation during this time.
Can I Throw The Tube In My Compost Pile?
Please dispose of in your regular garbage receptacle.
Regular lip balm tubes, whether virgin plastic material or made with recycled plastic (PCR) are both made using petroleum, which is a non-renewable resource. Our Plant Pod is made from a renewable resource - repurposed plant material that otherwise would have been burned. It’s better for the environment as it reduces carbon emissions and is non-toxic.
