Vegan interest grows driving higher demand in Personal Care.
Cedar Rapids, Iowa (April 7, 2015) According to a Harris Interactive study commissioned by the Vegetarian Resource Group in 2014, there are approximately 8 million Americans who consider themselves to be vegan, and the interest continues to grow. Consumers are looking at their personal care products and Eco Lips is meeting them at the shelf with more vegan lip balm options.
Instead of using beeswax, which is considered an “animal product” to most vegans, Eco Lips Bee Free® lip balms combine plant derived candelilla wax with organic, Fair Trade Certified™ cocoa butter and coconut oil to leave lips incredibly soft and supple.
According to Jane Merten, VP of Marketing at Eco Lips, “Consumer interest continues to grow for vegan products - not necessarily because people are against animal by-products but more so because of the perceived notion that vegan is a healthier choice. We want to meet consumers where they’re at and provide appealing flavor options, beeswax free.”
The three new flavors include:
• Superfruit - a smart combination of organic acai, blueberry, pomegranate and raspberry flavors
• Sweet Mint – organic peppermint and spearmint essential oils provide a cooling, mint sensation. It’s like a little, fresh minty treat each time you apply it.
• Unscented – simple, hard-working lip balm sweetened just a bit with organic Stevia
The Bee Free line is sold in a standard 0.15 oz lip balm tube, is Fair Trade Certified™, gluten free, cruelty free and made with 100% renewable energy offsets. Suggested retail price is $3.49. The three new flavors will be available May 5, 2015.
